In these times of trials and tribulation, it is imperative that we remain anchored to the teachings and traditions handed down to us by our forefathers. As traditionalists, we are guardians of a sacred heritage, and our faithfulness to Christ is our foremost duty.

Let us consider the words of our Lord in the Gospel of Matthew: "But he who endures to the end shall be saved." (Matthew 24:13) This endurance is an active, living faith that permeates every aspect of our lives. It requires diligence in prayer, unwavering commitment to our spiritual practices, and a resolute heart that seeks God above all else. Our ancestors, the Old Believers, faced immense persecution for their adherence to the ancient rites and traditions of the Church. They suffered exile, torture, and death, yet they remained unshaken in their faith. Their example is a testament to the power of unwavering belief and the strength that comes from a life dedicated to Christ. We honour their memory by continuing to uphold the practices they cherished, such as the use of the two-fingered Sign of the Cross, the traditional liturgical chants, and the veneration of icons in their ancient forms.

In the Book of Hebrews, we are reminded: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8) This eternal constancy of our Lord is the bedrock upon which we build our faith. Though the world and the nominal church around us may change, and though we may face challenges and hardships, our Lord remains unchanging and ever-present. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

It is also essential that we cultivate a spirit of humility and repentance. From the Psalm, we read: "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise." (Psalm 50:18 / 51:17) In recognising our own weaknesses and shortcomings, we open ourselves to the boundless mercy and grace of our Saviour. Let us approach the Holy Mysteries with reverence and a sincere desire for spiritual renewal.

Additionally, we must support and encourage one another in our community. As the Apostle Paul exhorts us: "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2) In times of difficulty, it is through our unity and mutual support that we find strength. Let us pray for one another, offer assistance to those in need, and foster a spirit of love and compassion within our communities.

And may we not forget the importance of teaching and passing on our faith to the younger generations. The preservation of our traditions and the continuity of our faith depend on our ability to instil these values in our children. Let us be diligent in instructing them in the Holy Scriptures, the teachings of the Church, and the practices that define us as Old Believers.

May we remain steadfast in our faith in Christ. May we draw strength from the example of our ancestors, find solace in the unchanging nature of our Lord, cultivate a spirit of humility and repentance, support one another, and diligently pass on our traditions to future generations.
